Two sisters are writing a novel together. Which one of them will win?


Ambreen Hameed is an award-winning producer and director for British television, who has worked in current affairs and documentary for two decades. Career highlights include Devil’s Advocate with the late Darcus Howe, Dispatches, and Second Chance which was nominated for a National Black Programming Consortium award. She won representation from Literary Agents MBA for her YA novel Shrinking Francesca, and has had a short fiction piece broadcast on Radio 4’s Pier Shorts.

Uzma Hameed is a writer, theatre director and dramaturg. For The Big Picture Company – a theatre company she founded in order to provide a greater diversity of roles for British Asian actors – she wrote and directed A Dark River, Taj and Prophetess.  As Associate Director for Derby Playhouse, her credits include Shirley Valentine, Frankenstein and Mary Stuart. As a dramaturg, she regularly collaborates with the Royal Ballet’s Resident Choreographer Wayne McGregor, including on the multi award-winning-ballet, Woolf Works.
